How long you can keep a verification number depends on the access period of the product you ordered—not on a single global timer for every Non-VoIP line.
This guide explains access duration. Product definitions: Understanding NonVoip number types.
What is an access period?
An access period is how long your NonVoip order keeps a number available for inbound SMS:
- Short Term — a limited session window
- Long Term — a 30-day rental
- Dedicated — a 30-day private rental
Exact minutes or dates appear in the offer details and dashboard for that order.

Short Term access
Short Term access lasts for the session shown at checkout. When the session ends, that order stops receiving new SMS for that assignment. Depth: What is a Short Term number and how does it work?.
Temporary-number concept: What is a temporary phone number?.
Long Term and Dedicated access
Long Term and Dedicated keep the number available for 30 days (renew when the dashboard offers it). During that time you can receive inbound SMS on the same line (subject to destination rules).
What ends access?
Access ends when:
- A Short Term session times out
- A rental period ends and is not renewed (when renewal is offered)
- The order is otherwise closed in the dashboard
Always trust the live order status in NonVoip over assumptions from other UIs.
Access period vs OTP expiry
Two different clocks:
| Clock | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Access period | How long NonVoip keeps the number for your order |
| OTP expiry | How long the destination site accepts that specific code |
